The country of Portugal took a major leap forward by granting its citizens marriage equality. The heavily Catholic nations parliament vote makes it the sixth country in Europe to have same-sex marriage.Even though the country took a momentous step forward, it has voted down a proposal to allow same-sex couples the right to adopt.
